The Climate Resilient Water Service Project amounted 100 million USD has successfully negotiated.
The negotiations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association on Climate Resilient Water Service Project with a total amounted of 100 million USD have been successfully held in Bishkek dated March 15, 2022.
The official delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic consisting of the head of delegation – Minister of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic – A.S. Dzhanybekov and representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic, State Agency of Architecture, Construction, Housing and Communal Services under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, Department of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Development under SAACHCS, plenipotentiaries of the Kyrgyz Republic President in Osh, Jalal-Abad, Batken and Issyk-Kul oblasts together with the head of IDA delegation Mr. Abdullhamid Azad and representatives of the World Bank reviewed the relevant documents of the project and following successful negotiations signed the Agreed Negotiations Protocol between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association on Climate Resilient Water Service Project.
The parties agreed to sign financial agreements by June 20, 2022.
For reference: Since September 2021, the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Department of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation under SAACHCS worked on the preparation of Climate Resilient Water Service Project’s documents with the total project cost amounted 100 million USD, of which 50 million USD as a grant and 50 million USD as a loan.
The project funds will be used to build and repair drinking water supply systems in 35 villages of Batken and 3 villages of Issyk-Kul oblasts and also to rehabilitate irrigation and drainage systems of Karadarya-Syr Darya-Amu Darya river basin (Osh and Batken oblasts and part of Jalal-Abad oblast).
In addition, the project will support institutional and technical capacity building of subordinate organizations of the Water Resources Service and the Department for Development of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation.
