Digital Information Network of DWRLI by VPNL2
The NWRMP-1 project implementation plans envisage the establishment of the Digital Information Network of DWRLI, which will provide a unified communication between the territorial divisions of DWRLI with the help of VPN L2 technology from the main provider KyrgyzTelecom. This network will provide communication for data sharing and will allow to connect distributed databases with text and spatial data, with layers of thematic maps via a web application and a single geo-portal for the republic.
Currently, PIU staff, together with KyrgyzTelecom staff, are working to connect 49 nodes. To date, 12 nodes have been connected and work on connection of nodes along the Naryn, Talas and Issyk-Kul oblasts is ongoing.
At the same time, to ensure a stable VPN connection, the PIU staff has installed, tested and launched the services of two DWRLI servers (Lenovo IBM x3550 M5). In addition, to ensure a secure VPN network, a software solution (Firewall Protection) is used against common Web attacks, such as DOS or DDOS, and hides the existence of the servers being inquired and their specifications.
The Cisco 2921 router with its Cisco IOS Security operating system is built for the corporate network of DWRLI and serves as a network gateway for the Internet of DWRLI, and also prevents unauthorized access to the local servers and computers of the Department’s staff.
